MYD’s Youth Enterprise and Entrepreneurship funding stream supports young people (12 to 24 years) to be better prepared for the future work environment through funding strengths-based enterprise education and skills development opportunities and investing in young people with business potential. These opportunities and investments will positively engage rangatahi in building skills and knowledge for life and learning, equip them to make successful transitions, and have meaningful options for making a living.

17 year old Ranisha Chand migrated to Aotearoa New Zealand from Fiji with her family in 2014 and has spent the years since giving back to her community. A leader that encourages the empowerment of rangatahi, Ranisha is the ambassador for Shakti Youth Network for Change (SYNC) at Papatoetoe High School.

Minister for Youth and Chairperson of the Youth Parliament Multi-Party Steering Committee (MPSC), Hon Peeni Henare, has launched the six-month Youth Parliament 2019 Programme.The programme runs from 01 March to 31 August 2019, and includes 120 Youth Members of Parliament and 20 Youth Press Gallery members attending a two-day Youth Parliament event in Wellington on 16 and 17 July.
19 year old Maisy Bentley has dedicated a big part of her life to many different causes that she holds dear. She has drawn upon her own personal experiences to reach out to other young people and advocate for them on a local and international stage.

The recipients of the 2019 New Zealand Youth Awards were announced by Minister for Youth Peeni Henare at a celebration event which took place on 24 June at Parliament. This year, there were seven Awards categories, with 14 recipients.

120 Youth MPs and 20 Youth Press Gallery members have gathered in Wellington to attend the two-day Youth Parliament event which gets underway today, says Hon Peeni Henare, Minister for Youth and Chairperson of the Youth Parliament Multi-Party Steering Committee (MPSC).
The Youth Parliament two-day event has begun! 120 Youth MPs and 20 Youth Press Gallery members have gathered in the capital, ready for a jam-packed two days.
The New Zealand Business and Parliament Trust 2019 Youth Parliament Competition award recipients were announced at a Youth Parliament function. The competition provided an opportunity for 140 Youth Parliament participants (Youth MPs and Youth Press Gallery members) to win money towards their future study.
Youth Parliament 2019 has ten select committees, made of up of Youth Members of Parliament. Each committee looked into an issue relevant to their subject area, and asked for submissions from the public to assist their consideration of the issues.

Aotearoa New Zealand is currently renewing its Biodiversity Strategy. Our indigenous plants, animals and ecosystems are in serious trouble. We have 4,000 species at risk of extinction, and natural ecosystems in decline.

The Youth Plan sets out actions that government will take in partnership with others to support all rangatahi, in all their diversity, to thrive and succeed. The government wants to really listen to our young people, so that we can make better decisions with and for them. The Youth Plan is about ‘turning voice into action’.

The Ministry of Youth Development's Youth Voice Project has developed an innovative online platform called ‘The Hive’ that aims to increase young people's participation in government policy development by facilitating their contribution and guiding them through the submission process.
