Second funding round
Eleven projects, led by territorial authorities around New Zealand, received funding from the second funding round.
Youth Affairs Minister Nanaia Mahuta announced the successful
recipients of MYD's annual Youth Development Partnership Fund at the
Youth in Local Government Conference in New Plymouth on 26 September
2006.

Far North District Council - Far North Futures Cadet Programme
Working with young people registered with Work and Income and mentoring them within a business environment.
Case study
Manukau City Council - Mangere Pride
Hosting of at least 20 forums and community events in the region to develop Mangere youth leadership.
Franklin District Council - What’s Up Tuakau
Providing a centre to support Tuakau’s young people with literacy,
numeracy, computer skills, self-esteem programmes, counselling, event
training, and holiday work programmes.
Otorohanga District Council - Harvest Central
Providing youth leadership, self-esteem and development programmes, music and drama classes, and life skills programmes.
Opotiki District Council - Tourism Product Development
Providing opportunities for young people to experience business, learn
about the tourism industry, be involved in a community-wide initiative,
learn and develop skills in a supportive environment, increase
Opotiki’s tourism product, and increase employment opportunities in the
district.
Case study
Taupo District Council - Taupo Youth Art Project
Working with at-risk young people who have been involved in illegal
tagging activity or who have shown an interest in alternative forms of
artistic expression and getting them to undertake a series of art
projects. In addition, workshops are planned covering business skills
and mentorship, employment and career options, artistic leadership,
portfolio development, and communication skills.
South Taranaki District Council - Get Connected
Working with young people to find the means to solve issues and work on
projects that they have identified as being important to their
wellbeing.
Nelson City Council - Youth Active Leadership Programme
Preparing at-risk young people for employment by assisting them in
gaining new skills, increased self-awareness, awareness of employment
opportunities, and social connection.
Grey District Council - Young Entrepreneurs Network (YEN)
Offering young entrepreneur’s access to business training, and support
mechanisms including accountancy, legal aid and business mentoring that
will assist them in developing businesses, thereby creating employment
for themselves and others.
Westland District Council - Hokitika Summer Programme
Holiday work scheme for young people to develop skills, experience and
receive training in a wide variety of roles, working in local business
enterprises and initiatives.
Clutha District Council - Inspiring Young People for Tomorrow
Providing individual support to young people through participation in a
40-week programme designed to enhance self-esteem, build positive
attitudes, develop attributes needed to be successful, enhance
work-based skills and career opportunities, and generate pride and
community ownership in the Clutha District.
