Welcome to our forum

Discussion forum ground rules

Our aim is to provide a space where young people can talk about issues and ideas to do with being a young person in Aotearoa New Zealand today. There’s a public forum and some restricted access forums for people involved in or supporting young people in our Aotearoa Youth Voices projects.

This is your space to have a say. Just remember, everyone's entitled to their opinion and some of us will have varying opinions, so do respect each other's right to have their say.

If you’re new to forums you can:
  • check out the “frequently asked questions”
  • have a play in the “sandbox” before you post something for real.
Before participating in our forums, you must read and accept these rules:
  • If you're going to create (or reply to) a topic, keep it relevant. Topics that are irrelevant will be deleted.
  • Posts should be about the topic, not about the people posting it. Posts should never harass, embarrass or threaten other users. Anyone consistently attacking another member or members will be banned
  • This discussion forum has a moderator who has the right to edit, censor or delete any messages posted. The plugging of particular viewpoints is not acceptable.
  • Do not post about being deleted, email us to find out why you've been deleted on youthvoices@myd.govt.nz
  • You will be provided with a warning before you are banned and you will be given a second chance.
  • Obscene, pornographic or violent posts will be deleted. These will also be treated seriously and passed onto the appropriate authorities.
  • A member should not impersonate another member. The impersonating identities will be deleted.
  • Do not give out your personal details online, remember that people can say whatever they like about themselves and it may not always be the truth. Keep your wits about yourself and who you divulge details too. For information on Internet Safety, check out www.netsafe.org.nz
  • Don't post simply to complain about someone else's spelling and grammar.
  • Avoid posting in all CAPS or MiXeD CaPs. All CAPS is considered shouting online and mixed caps post are hard to read and are likely to be ignored.
  • Advertisements or commercial solicitations will be deleted.
